  • Hi Baldy20 and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn that you are experiencing potential side effects from your treatment that are causing you concern.

I can appreciate how this can be both emotionally and physically challenging for you.

Some men find that these side effects get better or easier to handle the longer they’re on hormone therapy. But if things don’t improve, there are usually ways to help you feel more comfortable.

You might find it helps to rest and avoid anything that makes the pain worse. Putting something cold, like an ice pack wrapped in a cloth, on the sore area can ease swelling and pain. Wearing a special support, like a sports strap, can also help.

If the pain is bothering you a lot, Your GP maybe able to prescribe you some pain relief.

When you’re resting, try lifting your legs up on a footstool. This can help with swelling. It’s also good to move around a bit now and then, even just walking for a few minutes, to help your blood flow.

Wearing support stockings might help stop fluid from building up, and eating less salt can also make a difference. Gentle exercise, like walking or stretching, can help your body move fluid back to your heart.

If these side effects do not improve do speak to your oncologist again. They maybe able to change your    hormone treatment which may have fewer side effects for you.
