Panendosopy

I'm due for a panendoscopy, I've had various tests done before, but this is scaring me somewhat. I have my pre op assessment next week. I have other underlying health issues ( sinus tachycardia, orthostatic Hypotension, and I'm petrified at the thought of having to stay in hospital....am I being stupid, or should I be worried?

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

I am sorry that you are worrying about your upcoming panendoscopy.

It is normal to have a general anaesthetic with this procedure, which means an anaesthetist will be alongside you constantly monitoring all of your vital signs, BP, pulse and oxygen saturations. This means any changes they would respond to immediately.

Orthostatic hypotension (also known as postural hypotension) is also less likely, as you will be lying down for the procedure and monitored after waking up by the recovery nurses.

Take care, and if you want to talk anything through with the nurses then do call 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
