I am sorry to learn of your husband’s recent diagnosis of bladder cancer.
It’s really hard when someone you love is ill, and it’s normal to feel scared and unsure what to do. Sometimes people need time before they’re ready to talk. Just knowing you’re there can make a big difference.
Everyone copes with a cancer diagnosis differently; there is no one right way to deal with it. You may find it helpful to read our webpage on How cancer can make you feel.
It can be very emotionally draining on the family who is trying to support someone who has cancer; you must be supported too. The hospital where your husband is being treated may have a cancer information and support centre, and sometimes these are run by the hospital or Macmillan Cancer Support. There may also be a Maggies where your husband, you and the family can go to speak to someone and get some support. You can also call your nearest Maggies if you are unable to attend for advice and support. Both these centres may also provide benefits advice if needed.
