Whilst both constipation and diarrhoea can be symptoms of bowel cancer it is generally a change in bowel habit that needs to be looked into. The odd occasion of experiencing diarrhoea or constipation that gets better isn't usually something to be concerned about.

Therefore if you have noticed a difference in how you open your bowels and this is ongoing and not improving it is best to speak to your doctor about it. Do also mention any other symptoms you may have noticed.

The doctor can run some tests if needed to find out more.
