Cervical biopsies - MDT

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise me. I had cervical biopsies taken nearly six weeks ago after the colposcopy nurse saw what she said looked like abnormal cells. They told me results would be back within 3-4 weeks or 5 at a max if it goes to the MDT. I called last week at 4.5 weeks post biopsy and they said it my results were due to be checked by the consultant. I called again this week at 5.5 weeks post biopsy and they say it will go to the MDT at 6.5 weeks post biopsy.

They won't tell me anything over the phone about why it has gone to the MDT. But it feels like they must have found something for it to go down this route and be taking so much longer. Can anyone offer any advice about this? I feel quite in the dark.

Thanks for your help!

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about the wait you have had to receive your biopsy results and appreciate finding out you need to wait longer to be discussed in MDT must be worrying you further.

Unfortunately no one here can say what the results have shown or what needs to happen next either, I'm afraid. It will only be speaking with the doctor after the MDT when you will know more.

I understand how unsettling this is for you so do try and keep yourself as busy as you can in the meantime.

Having biopsy results discussed at a colposcopy MDT can mean many different things and doesn't necessarily mean something as suspicious as cancer cells being detected, so try not to speculate too much until you have all the information.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Naomi
