  • Hello Buzz, and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn that you needed radiotherapy very recently.

I was unsure what your situation is and where in the body you had radiotherapy. After 8 days of treatment, you would still expect to have side effects. The radiotherapy can continue to work for a while after treatment has finished, and people can experience side effects for some time.

What side effects you experience will depend on where in the body you were treated. For example, if you had prostate cancer and radiotherapy to the pelvic area, this can cause bowel changes and may affect the bladder, such as more frequent passing of urine

Some people can find that the side effects may get worse before they get better, but over time, this should improve. If you are concerned at all, if you have a nurse specialist (CNS), it might be helpful to discuss this with them, as they know your situation.

You may find it helpful to read our radiotherapy information and radiotherapy side effects on our website.

Please feel free to get back to us if you need to. You can also speak with one of our nurses on the helpline. We are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, freephone 0808 800 4040.
