Hello Jay38555 and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear that your sister is having chemotherapy.
It is fine for her to have chemotherapy and live with you all including the 9 year old child.
It is however a good idea to take precautions with any bodily fluids as chemotherapy can be found in them.
When your sister is using the toilet she should flush it twice and if any of the urine goes on the seat it should be washed wearing gloves and a disinfectant.
It would be a good idea anyway to wash the toilet seat with a cleaner twice a day wearing gloves
If there is any other bodily fluid such as vomit, gloves should be worn and if there are any bodily fluids on the sheets it would be good for the person changing the sheets to wear gloves.
It is fine for you and the 9 year old to give her a hug as I am sure she will need all your support whilst going through her treatment.
We have a page on our website called chemotherapy safety at home.
I hope this helps. I also hope that your sister's chemotherapy goes well.
If you or your sister would like to ring and chat through any of this then you are welcome to give us a call.
