Radiation induced oesophagitis can be very painful and how long it may last for varies from person to person. For most people the inflammation and soreness starts to ease after a few weeks, but it can take longer especially if you've had a higher dose of radiotherapy.
I'm not sure if you are taking any medication to help manage this side effect. Your doctor can prescribe painkillers or numbing medications. They can also prescribe antacid medication to reduce irritation.
