  • Hello, and thank you for your posting,

I am sorry to learn of your situation and that you are needing chemotherapy for a 2nd time. This must not be easy; it sounds like you have been through a lot already, and I can appreciate that this is an upsetting and worrying time.

As Cancer Information Nurses, not involved in your care, we are unable to give a second medical opinion; we cannot say whether or not the removal of the lymph nodes is an option. A lot may depend on how far the cancer has spread and how confident the doctors are that they can remove all the cancer.

It is best to discuss this with your team at the hospital who are treating your cancer, as they know your situation. If you have a specialist nurse (CNS), they may be able to help clarify things.

Some people can find it helpful to get a second opinion from a different doctor, as this can help clarify a situation. If this is something you would be interested in, your specialist or GP may be able to arrange this on your behalf.

I hope this helps in some way. If you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses on the helpline, we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Jemma
