Awaiting first radiologist appointment

I am meeting the radiologist for the first time next week.

What can I expect?

Thank you

PDW

  • Hi PDW and thank you for your post.

I’m sorry to hear that you need radiotherapy treatment. I appreciate you want to know what to expect and to prepare.

Different NHS Trusts may handle things differently, but usually your first appointment might just be a conversation with the radiology consultant and their team, who will discuss your personalised treatment plan.

You'll get instructions on how to prepare, have a chance to ask questions about the process and possible side effects, and be asked to provide your consent for treatment.

The team will also explain about the planning CT, skin tattoos and masks or moulds if needed.

I hope this information is helpful and that your appointment goes well.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards

    Tina
