Melanoma skin cancer - had it removed and got the all clear but experiencing other issues that I'm worried may be related to it

Hi, ive recently been told ive got melanoma skin cancer but ive had it removed and been given the all clear, but ive been having problem with forgetting things & im worried as i feel like its getting worse, is this related to the melanoma?

I am still under the hospital as I have to be checked out every 3 months. I've not spoken to anybody about this as I feel like people will just judge or say your young its nothing.

Thank you.

  • Hello Klt94, and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you had a melanoma removed, but you are now experiencing symptoms that are causing you concern. This must not be easy.

It is good news that the doctors were able to remove the melanoma and that you were given the all clear.

We cannot say what is the cause of your new symptoms, as we cannot diagnose you and are not involved in your care. Only a doctor who can assess you and send you for any necessary tests can say.

There can be many reasons for your symptoms other than cancer. I wondered if you have a specialist nurse (CNS) you can contact who knows your situation. Or if you are unable to speak with someone from your team at the hospital, you can make an appointment with your GP.

I hope you can get seen by a doctor soon. Please feel free to get back to us. If you would like to speak with one of our nurses on the helpline, you can call between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040.
