I am 54 and have the BRCA1 faulty gene.
I have had regular check ups and mammograms. The NHS recently decided due to my age that MRI scans which I was receiving are not necessary and the hospital had to make budget cuts.
I had a mammogram 2 months ago which came back ' normal'.
Last night I found a red shiny lump on left breast near the nipple. It does not stand out like a spot or skin boil. It is flat , about the size of a 1 pence coin. Its dark red and skin around it is flaking . The area around it is inflamed. I can feel the lump which is oval shaped. The area has been itchy
I gently squeezed around the lump but no pus , just dark red blood came out. Like a blood blister.
Im struggling with anxiety and depression with the menopause but do not want to waste GP's time if its just a spot. How long should I wait to see if it will heal ? Or should I see the doctor?
