Vertigo symptoms

I finished my cancer treatment in 2023 and am two clear mammograms down just waiting on my third mammogram soon. Thing is, since June I’ve been experiencing fairly awful vertigo symptoms that just don’t seem to be going away! I’ve been to my GP and there is no inner ear infection. I’ve had a CT scan and nothing was spotted which is great. I did have Bell’s palsy in 2022 and I’m wondering if it’s related to that. But it isn’t getting better. I am exhausted too and still very prone to infection. I’m still on letrozole. The docs at the hospital say it’s BPPV but from what I’ve read I genuinely am not sure that’s correct.

has anyone else experienced this too?

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

Unfortunately, we don't have expertise in ear disorders as such. Usually if vertigo develops some time after treatment, then it isn't likely to be related to the original cancer treatment. I am not aware of it being related to letrozole use either.

Inner ear issues such as BPPV are quite common in the middle aged to older general population. It does tend to recur. Patients are advised to do vestibular exercises regularly to avoid build up of crystals in the inner ear.

Do speak with your GP as sometimes they can refer you to a physiotherapist for specific head and neck exercises to help.

    I hope this helps,

    Best wishes,
