2ww

Hi, hope someone can help, positive or negative,  I'm ok with reality.. my ca125 has been rising slowly, but the doctors weren't too worried, I started hrt about 6 weeks ago, but caused heavy bleeding and blood clots.. had a transvaginal ultrasound,  and a tummy ultrasound,  and recieved a txt from my GP saying I've been referred to a 2ww gynaecology appointment,   to investigate further about my bleeding even though  it stopped after stopping hrt.. .. I have ovary pain, shooting pains in my thighs , and feel full after eating even if its a little  bit, also I bloat, but just put this down to ibs, and have been like this for a few years, my ovary area sometimes feels heavy, and it's like I can feel my insides, hard to explain.. any advice, good or bad would help me whilst I wait for my appointment,  thankyou so much xxx

  • Hello Shelly and thank you for posting.

It can be a stressful and anxious time waiting for hospital appointments, tests and test results. It can be a period where many people can feel they have no control over what is happening to them

It is not unusual for women who are having HRT who experience abnormal bleeding to be referred to the hospital urgently for further tests, This is known as the urgent suspected cancer referral . It is also worth knowing that the majority of people referred this way will not have cancer diagnosed.

For some people they find it helpful during this period of waiting to distract themselves by carrying on with daily activities such as working or meeting friends. For others this is not easy, there is no right or wrong way to feel.

I hope you can get an appointment soon and that you have friends and family you can lean on during this time.

In the meantime you are also welcome to give our nurses a call if you would like to talk things through. We are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040.
