Have had 2 different cancers 3 times, last one was IBC in 2021 initially stage 3 but downgraded later to stage 2. CA15.3 now 288, ct scan tomorrow. Bone scan to follow. How likely is it to be a false positive?
I am sorry to hear about everything you have been through. This must be a difficult time.
We cannot say whether your elevated CA 15-3 means the cancer has come back and whilst the doctors are wanting to check if the cancer has returned there can be other benign causes of a raised CA 15-3; such as Inflammatory Conditions.
Unfortunately you will need to wait for the results of your CT and bone scan in order to rule out cancer and to identify the potential cause of the CA 15-3 elevation.
