had a melonoma removed 1b

Had stage 1b removed I am being observed and have 25 moles that have been photographed for me to watch after going to the hospital for for checks every 12 months it's been changed to 3monthly I am 72 and cant' see them on my back and I think it's unreasonable to ask me to do this.  I really think it's time to start removing some of them rather than let them develop, when the first one was found they said they didn't know what it was but would remove it  it hard inspires confidence

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

I can understand your viewpoint. But they are seeing you for a regular follow up skin check it seems, which is of some reassurance.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything specific to contribute about this. You can try to have a discussion with the hospital dermatology team about this issue.

There are pros and cons to having cosmetic skin procedures, (as in what is classed as a normal mole removal), depending on the size and resulting scar tissue.

Hopefully, they might be able to explain any possible options to you moving forward.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
