Pre cancerous cells

Hi

I was diagnosed with pre cancerous cells on my womb about a month ago, was told that I wud be having a full hysterectomy as they were contained in my womb, but after my consultant had a meeting with other consultants in a monthly meeting, they came back and told me that there was no need to worry and they weren't going to do the operation and I wud receive a letter saying I was discharged from the hospital...

Should I not have regular check ups to make sure the cells haven't changed?

Thank you

  • Hi Ann 1234 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

It is difficult for us to give an opinion without being involved in your care. It may be a good idea to wait to see what the letter says and then go and talk it through with your GP and get their opinion on what decisions have been made.

The Royal College of Gynaecologists have some patient information on endometrial hyperplasia.

We have some information on our website about the risks and causes of womb cancer which you might find helpful to read.

Every case is treated very individually and your case was discussed with all the different doctors involved in your care and any decision would have been a collective decision on the choices that were made.

Try not to worry too much.

If you would like to ring and chat any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to do so.

the number to call is freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
