  • Hi Demonte, and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to read that your mum has been diagnosed with early stage lung cancer. I appreciate that you want to learn more about treatment options.

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to your question, because there are no definitive study results that show which treatment is better overall.

The best treatment option depends on the individual circumstances of each person and their overall health and fitness.

Surgery is still considered the standard treatment for patients who are fit enough, as it offers the best chance of a cure.

Some studies suggest surgery, especially lobectomy, may offer better long-term overall survival.

However, Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) is considered an effective form of treatment and can be a reasonable alternative to surgery with similar results when compared to surgery, according to a report by the National Institute of Health

    I hope this information helps.

  • I had my right lobe removed three months ago. My fear was worse than the surgery. I went home the following day. They got all the cancer with good margins. I didn't need treatment after. Hope this helps. It's normal to be terrified. I wish your mum all the best.

  • Thankyou yes she's ok feeling positive but unsure until she meets with the surgeon.Think it more the stay in hospital to be honest.its the fear of the unknown right now xxx
