I went for blood test with my doctor but worried I my have lung cancer

I been experiencing a lot of congestion in my throat where I can clearly it alot and feel like the mucus stuck in my throat. I went to the doctor and booked me in to see hemoglogy I explained all my symptoms and the took a lot of blood to see if they can find out the issue. I previously had lymphoma and had to go on chemo for 4 months. I been cancer free for 5 years but I'm really scared that I have lung cancer. I had them done about a week ago and not heard back from them yet as they said if anything comes up or is a issue that will contact me right away. If I don't hear from them then I will see them in 4-6 weeks for a overview where they are monitoring me after my passed issues and a marker came up of a previous blood test with that think is a marker for an allergy.

I hope this makes sense I'm just really frightened at the moment as I really had a hard time when I had my cancer before and don't want to go through all that again and end up the other side worse

  • Hello Craig, and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn that you are experiencing symptoms that are causing you concern.

Waiting for test results can be stressful and cause anxiety. I am sure going through this has taken you back to when you had lymphoma a few years ago.

As Demonte has said, it is best to take things one step at a time.

For some people, it can be helpful to distract themselves with their daily activities, such as working; for others, it may not be so easy. There is no right or wrong way.

I hope your blood test results are OK and that you can get an answer to what is causing your symptoms.
