  • Hi Flapjack,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am not a nurse, but I thought that I would answer your post, as they are not here at the weekend. Hopefully, one of the nurses will reply to you tomorrow.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your sister passed away as a result of cancer in March.

I am glad to hear that you have already seen a doctor, when you are so worried about your own health. Thrush is a common complaint and you may just need another course of medicine to clear your tongue completely. I am sure that if your doctor suspected cancer, he would have referred you to get this investigated. Please make another appointment and let the doctor see that it hasn't healed yet. I hope that another course of medicine will clear this up for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hello Flapjack and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your sister and I can understand that it can make you more aware of your own health.

Everyone however is very different so try not to over think it for now. If you are still having thrush and the yellow medicine, Nystatin, does not appear to be working then do go back and discuss this with your GP.

I am sure that if the GP was concerned about the lumps in the back of your throat then they would have considered ordering some different tests to help find out the cause.

Don't be afraid to ask your GP any questions.

It can sometimes help to make a list of different questions that you have.

The Patients Association have written some information about how to make the most out of your GP appointment.

Try to drink enough water (2-3 litres) to help clear the thrush infection.

    All the best,

    Catherine
