Hello Sammy06 and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear about the sore skin that has developed since finishing treatment.
I would get in touch with your breast care nurse and let them know. Different hospitals have different policies about what to apply to skin so do get in touch with them. You could also get in touch with the radiotherapy department where you were treated. They may be able to suggest creams that you could be prescribed by your GP.
Breast Cancer Now have some information on side effects of radiotherapy which you might find helpful.
The Society of Radiographers have produced a PDF of skin care
I have also come across a discussion on the Breast Cancer Forum about radiation burns so you can hear what other women have used.
It is important that you keep the skin well moisturised. Avoid any scented products. Gently towel dry yourself after a shower or bath.
Do make sure that you are eating a high protein diet, eating plenty of fruit and vegetables which will help with any healing and make sure that you are drinking at least 2-3 litres of water.
You have posted on 'ask the nurses' but if you post on another thread or start your own in a different part of the forum you may find that you get more responses.
I do hope that things will settle down soon and it will become more comfortable for you.
If you would like to chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.
The number to ring is Freephone 0808800 4040.
All the best,
Catherine
