Hello Noomi and thanks for your post,
Doctors have guidelines when patients present with symptoms. Your GP has tried to rule out an infection by giving you a couple of courses of antibiotics and these haven't worked.
There might have been other tests that the doctors conducted such as blood tests that indicated that you needed to be seen by the gynaecology team. It is difficult without being involved in your care to say more.
You could try and have a conversation with your GP to see why you have been referred to the gynaecologist rather then the urologist.
Try not to over think things for now. There are lots of other conditions that patients can get that don't mean a cancer diagnosis.
Do give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you want to talk things through.
The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
All the best,
Catherine
Thank You Catherine for your reply, it is a worry. The strange thing is I've not been seen by my Gp yet it has been a specialist nurse. I am finding night times the worse, I can keep going all day but my mind runs to worry at 3am until I get up again. Thankyou
