Melanoma WLE & SLNB wait times

Hi

My partner was diagnosed with stage 1b melanoma on 28th August.

They need a WLE and SLNB does anyone have a rough guidline on when that operation may take place so we can manage our expectations as the is stressfull

    The wait for WLE & SLNB is anything from 3 weeks to 8 weeks depending on the hospital trust. A WLE alone makes the waiting time less because a radiologist is required for the SLNB and these aren't readily available. If you haven't been given a date yet, I suggest your partner contacts dermatology or the cancer nurse (they should have been given their contact details when diagnosed) and ask to be put on the cancellation list (if your partner can be available last minute). Sometimes patients cancel their surgery so you may be lucky.
