Rapid radiology scan

Hi, I have had issues with dioreah for some time now just got my blood results doctor said all looks good I just got my FIT test back seems there is no blood detected now I got a text to say I am been referred to rapid response radiology appointment in a few weeks is this a normal part of the process

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having. Unfortunately no one here is going to be able to tell you why you have been sent this message about this appointment you have received and I suggest you call your GP to find out more.

From what you have said all the tests so far have come back normal, which is reassuring. However if your doctor is still concerned about the possible cause they may be sending you to rapid diagnostic service. These are available in some parts of the country where various radiology scans can be carried out to try and figure out the cause of symptoms quickly.

I hope you find out more soon to get a better understanding of what may be going on.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best

    Naomi

  • Hi thank you so much for the reply apparently it's just part of the process so currently my bloods came back good and stool sample was clear from blood my concerns are the 2 lumps under the skin on my abdomen dull back ache that radiates from lower back to higher and below ribs left and right side it constantly changes position my stools are always mushy with brown clear liquid accompanied with the stool mostly the pain on my abdomen is left sided but as I say it radiates just lately I feel slightly sick any advice would be massively appreciated

  • Hi ChrisJ86 and thank you for getting back to us.

I’m sorry you are worried about bowel symptoms and can understand you wanting to find out more.

I'm afraid we are unable to diagnose or tell you if anything is the matter. Symptoms can have straightforward medical explanations. But only a doctor can make a medical assessment.

You will have to wait for the scan and the results.

People often experience a whole range of emotions when waiting for results. We know that talking can often relieve some of the distress and anxiety. There's some useful advice about talking therapies and how to access them on the NHS website. In the meantime,  Anxiety UK has a good website with helpful tips on how to deal with anxiety in these situations.

    Take Care
