Weight gain with cancer

Apart from having a healthy diet are there any recommended supplements. For example I have been recommended  Huet once a day, powder added to water.

Have been trying this to little effect but then I read that it is good for weight loss. Advice please

  • Beckwith49a and thank you for your post.

It is always advisable to discuss any weight loss program with your hospital specialist.

They can assess your individual needs, treatment plan, and potential risks associated with weight loss.

Losing weight safely would depend on what type of cancer you have and if you are currently having treatment. For example, some doctors would not want you to lose weight rapidly if you were currently having chemotherapy as the dose depends on your body surface area.

As nurses we cannot give advice or make recommendations about medicines or food supplements. As there are known interactions with medications and supplements it is best to check with your own doctor or pharmacist before taking anything, just to be on the safe side.

At times, achieving weight loss primarily involves adopting a healthier diet, reducing calorie intake, and increasing physical activity.

I hope you manage to lose weight safely.
