Mouth not healing after biopsy on tongue

My mum has had a biopsy 3 weeks ago and sadly been told it is a tumour the wound will not heal and is getting worse & she is in constant agony even on double doses of morphine she has tried everything we can think of? Is there any advice on what we can do ? Sadly treatment is not an option .

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your mum's situation, this must be a difficult time for you all.

In regards to the area in her mouth not healing I suggest she needs to get this looked at. The doctor can make sure she hasn't developed an infection as well as prescribing some things to try and help manage any pain.

It must be upsetting to know there is no treatment available to her. You haven't said the reasons for this but I hope that she has been referred to a community Macmillan nurse who can advise your mum about managing any symptoms she may be experiencing and supporting both her and the rest of the family at this time.

I hope your mum is able to get the help and support she needs at this time. Do get back if you need to, or you are welcome to call us on 0808 800 4040, we're here week days 9-5.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
