Hi,
My husband has prostate cancer, diagnosed in January this year, it has spread to some lymph nodes and he is due to have radiotherapy in October. He's been on enzalutamide for three months, previously was taking another testosterone inhibitor for three months.
During this time my husband - who runs every day and is a fit 63 year old - has experienced a little more fatigue than usual but nothing excessive.
However three weeks ago he was so exhausted for four days that he barely moved. It felt to him like Covid (we tested and it wasn't). This week he had another episode of extreme fatigue and general unwellness which luckily lasted only 48 hours. Again he tested negative for Covid.
I can't stress how severe the fatigue would have to be to stop him doing things. He's extremely active.
So, I unhelpfully went Googling and found that fatigue can be a sign the cancer has worsened. I haven't mentioned this to him, obviously, but I am worried.
When we told the consultant about the first bout of fatigue they said it was probably a virus. And maybe it was. But I wonder if you could shed any light on this for me and perhaps suggest a way we could check this out?
Best wishes,
Islingtonite
