I am sorry to learn that you had breast cancer. I can understand there may be some uncertainty and perhaps anxiety for you in stopping anastrozole after taking it for so long.
Currently, no evidence suggests taking anastrozole longer than 10 years is beneficial, and there is concern that the benefits are outweighed by possible risks such as endometrial cancer, bone thinning, and heart problems.
It is worth knowing that it has been reported that the benefits of anastrozole can continue after stopping the treatment for many years. However, if you are concerned about what stopping the anastrozole means in terms of the cancer returning, the best person to discuss this with would be your doctor, who knows your situation.
