Hi there and thanks for the post
It is very natural to feel nervous about stopping the anastrozole (arimidex) after taking it for so long. For many people taking this medication can feel like a safety blanket so it can be very unsettling to stop it.
There is evidence to suggest that the benefits continue for many years after stopping it, which is worth remembering. However do also speak to your doctor or nurse about how this is making you feel, they may be able to also put your mind at ease.
Unlike some other medications it is okay to stop this medication abruptly when the time comes.
If you have experienced any side effects whilst taking this drug then these should start to ease off once you have stopped taking it. And like with anyone who has completed their cancer treatment if you have any concerns about your health or notice any changes let your doctor know, just to be on the safe side.
I hope this is helpful but do get back if you have more questions. You are also welcome to call the nurses on 0808 800 4040 weekdays ( except bank holidays) 9-5 if you prefer.
All the best
Naomi
Thank you for this in formation
it is appreciated
