Lots of polyps post menopause - is this normal?

Hi

Im being daft , worrying about nothing . Can someone please reassure me that it's not uncommon to have lots of polyps ( 5 in the entry of my womb but Dr believes there will be more as she struggled to inflate it with the water and I need to be under a general to do it more effectivily ) with a 13. Something thickness of the womb and some big clots passed.

Ive been getting backache but I have arthritis so could be linked

There are lots of things it is more likely to be than cancer right??

Thank you for taking time to answer

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m sorry to read about your situation and can appreciate how stressful it is waiting to find out more.

Womb polyps are very common especially in post menopausal women and in the majority of cases are usually harmless . But they can cause unpleasant sometimes such as heavy bleeding, clots and a thicker womb lining.

A general anaesthetic is often used simply to make removal easier and more comfortable for you.

I know it's easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. Also try and focus on what you can control right now by eating a good diet, getting enough rest, and doing some gentle activities that you enjoy.

I hope you know more soon.. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
