Marker blood test

I’ve had a bad pain in my left side of my stomach for 4 weeks first time I saw dr he did urine test it came clear

then after week or so it was still there I went saw different dr he said it could possibly be to do with ovaries that hadn’t occurred to me so he arranged a blood test and a scan I had blood test today the nurse said had he explained what this blood test wax I said no she said it was a marker

when n I got home a scan appointment for the 27 th was booked

but the pain hasn’t been so bad for the last couple of days so I feel a bit of a fraud having scan etc

But it had been bad but eased off but it does tend to di that I think yay it’s fine and then it comes back

I  see the market test is Ca15 to check for certain things which can include cancer

im thinking goodness I’ve not even sorted out my thy 3 f thyroid nodule with out moving on to another problem

but what I wanted to know is if it’s to do with ovaries and cancer surely the pain wouldn’t ease off it would continued what is your opinion

Thankyou sorry for waffling on

  • Hi Avemaria and thank you for your post.

I’m sorry you are worried about your recent symptoms and can understand you wanting to find out more.

I am afraid I cannot tell you what might be causing your pain as there can be many different causes.

It is essential to wait for the results of the CA125 blood test and to attend your scan appointment to determine the underlying cause of your pain, as your pain may be due to benign causes such as; ovarian cysts or fibroids which still may require treatment.

We know waiting for tests and the results can be stressful. We know that talking can often relieve some of the distress and anxiety. There's some useful advice about talking therapies and how to access them on the NHS website.

In the meantime, Anxiety UK has a good website with helpful tips on how to deal with anxiety in these situations.

I really hope you know more soon and that everything will be okay for you.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards

    Tina
