Malignant melanoma 2ww referral

Hi,

So i am feeling a little bit overwhelmed. I went to see the gp today with a red looking spot on my face which has been there around 6 weeks maybe longer which hasnt healed. She has reffered me under the 2 week wait for suspected malignant melanoma. I am however terrified as i forgot to mention with being overwhelmed at my gp appointment that i also have a small lump behind my ear which i am not suming the worst and that it is a swallon lymph node and that means if it is cancer has it spread. Im only 28 and very scared. I want to google it but at the same time its telling me the worst.

    I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern. This must not be easy.

    We cannot diagnose you or say whether the lump behind the ear is a swollen lymph node; this is something only a doctor who can assess you can say.

    There can be several reasons for the lump other than cancer. You can make another appointment to get checked by your doctor or wait for your hospital appointment.

    Easier said than done, but try not to overthink things and take it one step at a time.
