FIT test

I had a negative FIT test a year ago courtesy of the NHS despite being over the age limit. I am obviously not eligible but at £90 for a private one is there any way I could still get an NHS one. I have recently lost a bit of weight (Acid reflux) and I have started to get constipation.

  • Hi Maggie 27 and thank you for posting,

The FIT test is sent as part of the bowel screening programme. This is for people in the general population who do not have bowel symptoms.

As you are having symptoms, your GP can arrange for you to do a FIT on the NHS and any other tests that may be necessary.

Do make an appointment with your GP so they can assess you and for you to tell them about any concerns you may have.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to get back to us. If you would like to speak with one of our nurses on the helpline, we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040.

    Jemma
