CA125 results :

Hi - please can you advise…

28 Feb 2023 = 110 CA125 results

27 Aug 2024 = 118 CA125 results

In between those dates my CA125 have been normal range under the 35 mark.

December 2024 had a laparoscopy to look for endometriosis however surgeon said there wasn’t anything endo, a lot of adhesions and the right ovary had attached itself the pelvic wall! Hence the pain. Which I was suffering monthly! That seems to have all settled! Phew….

Recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia - I just wanted to know with the CA125 fluctuating is there a chance I’m being misdiagnosed? I have horrendous back pain! Am wondering what causes adhesions? As I’m just scared “something” is going on & being missed.  I lost my oldest sister to Cervical Cancer 14 years ago - so am slightly apprehensive

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

Unfortunately, as nurses, we can't give you a medical opinion on your results. CA125 levels can go up and down in response to inflammation and infection, cysts, and other pelvic conditions.

Adhesions can be caused by infections, and inflammation, or previous surgery. If you are having ongoing symptoms, then ask your GP about this. They may refer you back to gynaecology for another assessment. Endometriosis for example, can occur at any age from when periods start.

I hope that you get this health concern addressed soon,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
