Testicular cancer - CT found nodule?

Hi

my husband has his appointment today and confirmed he needs his operation to remove his testical next week due to a tumour.

however the consultant and nurse mentioned on the CT they found a lung nodule but also said enlarged lymph node (just 1) which I believe are two different things? is this correct? both used different terminology at different times so now we are confused which it is.

also they have said that they will do another CT scan as it’s not clear what this was (whether it has spread) or just nothing. Is 3 months the normal to wait for a rescan as we are worrying it’s the cancer that has spread.

Thank you

  • Hi Lou9292

I am sorry to learn about your husband’s diagnosis of testicular cancer. I can appreciate this must be a difficult time for both of you.

By the time you receive this message, you may have already attended your appointment and obtained your answers.

Yes, a lung nodule  and an enlarged lymph node are generally considered different things, although both can be seen on a CT scan. A lung nodule is a small spot or growth within the lung tissue, while an enlarged lymph node is a swelling of one of the small, bean-shaped glands that are part of the immune system.

Hopefully the doctor will explain  what the CT shows in more detail .

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.
