Hi Mugsy
It is scary being diagnosed with BCC or SCC however these skin cancers are over 99% curable. Minor surgery under local anaesthetic removes them and that is it over with. I had my first removed 35 years ago. You must protect your skin from now on with suncream clothing hats and avoiding strong midday sunshine or you are likely to develop further lesions.

Hi Mugsycat and thank you for your post.
I'm sorry to read about your situation. It does sound like this is a difficult time for you.
I can understand how the word cancer can conjure up a wide range of emotions.
Both basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are classified as non-melanoma skin cancers, representing the most common types of skin cancer. These cancers are regarded as low-risk and can typically be treated successfully in the majority of instances.

You are right to keep an eye on any moles you have and assess them regularly. Not all moles that change are cancerous. Here is a guide to help you assess your moles.
I have also attached a link for you to learn about skin cancer prevention.
Anxiety UK and Every Mind Matters are good websites that have useful tips and advice on how to cope whilst waiting for appointments and results.
I hope you know more soon and everything will be ok.
