Anal cancer

I have just received my biopsy results confirming that I have cancerous cells.I have had CT and MRI scans in past few weeks which were clear,so now awaiting next step of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Is this treatment successful?

  • Hello Roxi1234 and thanks for your post,

Without being involved in your care it is difficult to comment on your particular case. On the whole anal cancer can be very successfully treated. It is good to hear that the CT and MRI scans were clear.

We have some information on chemoradiotherapy treatment which you might find helpful to read through.

We do have some information on our website about how you can prepare yourself for treatment by eating a healthy diet and trying to increase your fitness.

I do hope your treatment goes well.

You are welcome to ring and chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses. The number to ring is freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
