  • Hi 0151tmac69 and thank you for your post.

I’m sorry to learn that you are having a difficult time since commencing chemotherapy. I appreciate this is an overwhelming situation to be in.

Unfortunately, chemotherapy does have some  side effects.

If you experience any side effects since starting your chemotherapy, it is always best to speak with your hospital team.

Insomnia can be a common issue but can make life difficult by leaving you very tired and unable to carry out your daily activities.

The steroids might have disrupted your normal sleep pattern. Consult your hospital specialist, who may be able to switch you to an alternative medication or advise you to take the last dose earlier in the day.

Additionally, you may find it beneficial to visit our webpage dedicated to insomnia and cancer. Macmillan and Chemocare also provide guidance and suggestions for managing insomnia.

I hope some of this information is useful.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

     Kind regards

    Tina
