Hello and thanks for posting
I'm sorry to read about your mother. This must be an incredibly difficult time for the whole family.
It's difficult to say for sure how things will develop over time. Some bladder tumours are slow growing and may cause few symptoms for quite a while, while others can be more aggressive. As the tumour begins to grow it may cause symptoms such as blood in the urine, frequent urination and discomfort or pain when passing urine. If the tumour begins to interfere with the normal function of the bladder or spreads further, your mum may eventually need support with managing urinary problems and pain relief.
I’m not sure if your mother is being supported at home by a community palliative care team, often they are known as Macmillan nurses. They are experts in controlling cancer symptoms and can provide emotional support. If she doesn't have a palliative care team involved in her care she could ask her GP or hospital team to refer her. You might also find it helpful to read our information about the support that is available to people at home with bladder cancer.
I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
