Post menopausal bleed and gynaecology consultation

Hi after a post menopausal bleed, two appointments were arranged for me. Firstly a transvaginal ultrasound followed by a gynaecological consultation four days later (due this afternoon).

I am just wanting to know what to expect from the gynaecologist consultation as I haven’t been told anything and am feeling extremely nervous.

thanks

  • Hi! I have had the same and my consultant appt was on Friday. The ultrasound results had not been forwarded to him so I had a further scan and a biopsy of the womb lining. The biopsy was uncomfortable with some cramps but not too bad. Should have the results in the next 2 weeks so not long to wait. He was pretty confident that everything was going to be fine but test will rule out cancer. I hope everything goes well for you.

  • Thank you so much for your message. I have just got back from my appointment. The gynaecologist went over the results of my scan which didn’t show anything abnormal, just a tiny fibroid. Such a relief! However they need to clarify if I’m post menopausal or perimenopausal so she performed a biopsy. I found this excruciating so well done you for being so brave as I wasn’t at all! I’ve got to wait four weeks for the results of the biopsy but because I couldn’t tolerate it for very long, they don’t have much of a sample to work with so I might have to have a hysteroscopy but at least I’ll be asleep for that!

I really hope everything goes well for you, I have everything crossed for you x

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

I can see from your second post that you've now had your consultation and a fibroid was seen. Glad this got sorted for you and that you had support from another forum user.

Once your biopsy results are back, you will have a clearer idea of where you are.

    Take care.

    Sarah.
