Womb biopsy

Hi,

I have had two hysteroscopy’s done, the first came back clear but the consultant wanted another one done because of an area of thickness at the top of my womb. Two weeks ago I had the hysteroscopy done under GA and the surgeon was surprised that the thickening was a fibroids covering the top of the womb, he removed it and said he could not see anything abnormal in the womb and he also took a biopsy but wasn’t concerned. I received an appointment letter today via the NHS App for an appointment with the consultant for this coming Monday at the hospital. I am so scared it’s bad news as the last appointment I had to say I needed another hysteroscopy was over the telephone and I’m thinking the worst. Is good news delivered on a hospital appointment? Can I find out anything before ?

  • Hello Sharontrace and thanks for your post,

I think you will need to wait for your appointment on Monday to find out more. I can understand how stressful it can be waiting but try if you can not to over think it for now. It is difficult without being involved in your care and having very little information to really say more.

Results positive and negative can be given at a hospital appointment. I don't think that there is anything that you can find out before hand as the results are personal to you and everyone is so different so try not to google.

I hope all will be okay. Do give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you would like to talk things through.

The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • On Monday I was diagnosed with stage 1 1a uterine cancer. I will be having a hysterectomy and I’m coping with the news but struggling with early morning waking which isn’t what I need at the moment. Can anyone recommend something natural to help with sleep please ?

  • Hello Sharontrace and thanks for your further post.

I'm sorry to read about your recent womb cancer diagnosis and that your sleep pattern is currently being affected.

Early morning waking is common when you are dealing with a stressful situation and we have some information on our website about managing sleeping difficulties. It includes a section on taking natural remedies that may be of help.

I hope this improves for you soon and good luck with your treatment. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
