Tubular adenomas

Hi I’m 37yo female who had positive stool fit test last dec and 5 tubular adenomas with low grade dysplasia all right side colon removed last dec 24. I’ve still symptoms including slight mixed bleeding and increased frequency but my gp is unable to expedite my follow up in October. Do I need to be concerned or just wait? They were found coincidentally due to low iron /pos fit test which then led to colonoscopy thanks

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

Adenomas (a type of polyp) are generally benign but can, in some situations, be precancerous.

I think that if you remain concerned and your GP is unable to help with your organised follow-up in October, you could contact the team yourself at the hospital.

If you have any letters from the doctor who organised the colonoscopy and polyp removal at the hospital, you could try and contact them through the hospital switchboard. You can then make them aware that you are having these symptoms, and they can then decide if they feel you need to be seen sooner or if they are happy to keep things as they are.

Take care and if you want to talk to the nurses the helpline is on 0808 800 4040. lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
