Melanoma Stage 3

Hi

my name is Dawn

I have just been diagnosed stage 3 melanoma cancer

I had one lymph node removed and it has been confirmed a minute trace of melanoma was found in my lymph node and was removed

I had a PET scan to see if it’s gone any where else.

waiting results

My question is would the cancer try and find another lymph node before it goes to a vital organ and if not can you survive stage 4 with treatment.

  • Hi there Dawn and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis and appreciate this is a worrying and uncertain time for you.

Hopefully your scan results will be in soon so you know more about your situation.

Every cancer behaves differently and it is difficult to predict how a cancer will grow or spread. Cancer cells will often first travel to local lymph nodes before travelling through the lymphatic system to other parts of the body.

There are treatments available for melanoma patients, even at later stages that aims to treat and control the cancer for as long as possible. I am sure the doctors looking after you will be wanting to give you the best possible outcome they can.

Times like this can be challenging and the mind can go into overdrive but try and take things one step at a time for now.

    Wishing you all the best

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Thank you for your quick response.

My worry comes in waves and the waiting game . Plays tricks on my mind.

My stress is not knowing what stage of cancer I’m up against to start to prepare for the fight .

I will try and stay strong and calm and put the wait game to the back of my head.

    once again thank you.
