Colonoscopy

I am approaching the end of my present cancer treatment. The hospital dealing with all my cancer care has told me that I will require a colonoscopy as a routine check after treatment ends, but, it has to be done by the hospital that carried out my operation, not them.

Is this usual? I would prefer the hospital dealing with my cancer care to do the colonoscopy. I just feel going elsewhere is taking me out of there loop.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about you are currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

Sometimes treatment and follow up care are dealt with by different hospitals within the same NHS trust. This doesn't usually cause problems for patients.

If this is concerning you do talk it through with the team involved in your care to see if their is the option to have a colonoscopy at your current hospital or not. If not I am sure they can reassure you and put your mind at ease.

Wishing you all the best as you complete your current treatment.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
