Menstrual Bleeding 28days

Hi, I have been bleeding for more than 28days, I am sleeping alot, and my hip is sore but I do train alot so I am putting g the fatigue and hip pain down to that.

I have seen tonight the symptoms of cervical cancer, I am worried and won't be able to ring a Dr until Wednesday as I am in the fire service and working until then, and it takes 1million calls to get through to my gp

  • Is there a weekend service in NI I can call?

  • Hi AT134,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms - it's a long time to have been bleeding but try if you can not to look up symptoms too much online or draw any conclusions as Google will never give you proper answers and will only make you worry more so it's best to seek medical advice when you can. Our nurses are not online over the weekend and will respond to you in the next few days. In the meantime, I have found information for you on the GP out of hours service in Northern Ireland and you will find there different numbers to ring depending on which area you live in. It's normally for people who need urgent medical treatment but cannot wait until their doctor's practice opens but if you feel you need medical advice over the weekend, it might be worth giving them a call.

I hope this helps a little.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Unfortunately, as nurses, we can't tell you what the matter is, or suggest medical diagnoses.

There are many gynaecological causes of heavy and prolonged bleeding. The NHS website has more information.

Most of the time it is not due to cancer, but may still need treatment. So do persist and make an appointment to discuss this with your GP who can assess you and advise further.

    Best wishes,
