My breast cancer

Hi

I have just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer .
I have no idea of how to react .
im awaiting my HER2 results.

Hello All

  • Hi there Christene and thank you for getting in touch

I am sorry to hear about your very recent diagnosis of breast cancer.

It is very usual to be feeling the way are right now and don't be surprised to go through a series of different emotions in the coming days or weeks, this is very normal.

I hope you have family and friends around you to support you through this time and navigate this with you.

Sit tight for now if you can until you have all the information from your doctor about what needs to happen next and to understand what this means for you.

Everyone's cancer is different in terms of the type, stage ( size and extent) and what treatment is needed and you need to hear this about yours from your doctor. Avoid googling other people's stories until you know the full facts about yours and the steps needed to give you the best possible outcome.

The outlook for all breast cancer patients has improved greatly over the past few decades and I am sure the team looking after you will only be wanting the best for you.

As I say take things a day at a time for now and look after yourself as best you can.

There is alot of support out there (and on here) for people with breast cancer so do ask for help and reach out for what you need along the way.

    Wishing you all the best

    Naomi

  • Hi

    Thankyou .
My HER2 has been sent for further tests should I worry

    Christene

  • Hi there Christene and thanks for getting back in touch

Please try not to worry, it isn't unusual for samples to be sent for further testing. As I said yesterday, the doctors need to gather as much information as possible about your cancer to give you the best treatment.

I hope you know more soon but in the meantime do get back to us if you wish or give us a call on 0808 808 4040. We're here weekdays 9-5.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Hi thank you for that .

im concerned as I am exhausted especially in the afternoon and very very thirsty.

    is this normal

    christene

  • I am experiencing such fatigue and very very thirsty

mid yhis s sign of breast cancer

  • Hello and thanks for your further post

Stress and worry can make us all feel tired so this is not unusual. This and feeling thirsty is not a sign of breast cancer.

As my colleague Naomi said sit tight for now until you know more.

    Take care,

    Celene

  • Good morning.
I have had a little water blister come up around the area of my breast cancer ..

I am going to Greece tonight.
should I worry about the blister

  • Hello Christene,

I am afraid that it's difficult for anyone here to know if this blister is anything to be worried about.

If it is where you had your breast biopsy, then do get it checked out. You could ring your breast nurse or breast team to see if they could fit you in. Or your GP may be able to see you.

If this blister is nowhere near where you had a biopsy, then it's probably good to see how it goes. If it does not improve in a few days, show it to your GP.

I hope you can get away on holiday and have a lovely time.

    Take care

    Caroline
