Breast Lump

Hello,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice as I cannot find any information that relates to my symptoms. One of my breasts has recently become very lumpy. When I was in the shower this morning I had a firm feel. It feels like I've got lots of very grainy fluidy sacs. When I squeeze it feels like fibourous tissue. Almost like one of them squidgy silicone stress balls that are filled with lots of little balls. It's really hard to describe. But it certainly doesn't feel normal. My other breast feels fine. I've had a cyst in the past in one of my breasts and I have nipple discharge on a daily basis (Clear blueish fluid) from both breasts. Any advice on my symptoms? Thank you x

  • Hi JennyPenny,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to say what is causing this. The only way to find out is to see your GP as soon as you can. They will probably refer you to the breast clinic for investigation. Some people have naturally lumpy breasts, without having anything untoward. You mention that it feels like fibrous tissue - this could be a benign Fibroadenoma or another cyst. The 3 main tests at the breast clinic on a first visit are mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. The first 2 can identify any suspicious lump and the biopsy can predict whether or not there is any cancer present.

I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Jenny, and thank you for posting.

I do not know what may be happening with your breasts, as we can not give a medical opinion. However, I can say there are many different breast conditions that are not cancer, that can happen and be diagnosed in breast tissue.

Do talk to your doctor about what you have noticed. They will assess and decide if you need to be further investigated.

Take care, and if you want to talk things through with the nurses then call 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
