  • Hello valiant,

l am no nurse just a recovered stage 4 patient, but reading your post it would seem that you would need a recovery period from surgery before further treatment and that would be 6-12 weeks, and l notice your appointment is with an oncologist is exactly 2 months.which would suggest they want to see the possibllity of spread to the bowel from those inflamed lymph nodes.

As someone who had spread out from an inflamed lymph node in the bowel to the liver it took over 16 weeks to make confirmed landfall, so it would appear that your surgical team are aware of potential scenario's and a review of your current status on the 8th july will reveal the need for the specific form of follow up treatment when your body will be fit for any option to follow

l realise the waiting and not knowing is horrid, and that with anxiety your mind can get filled with horses pulling galloping chariots as opposed to them peacefully grazing on mist shrouded water meadows just as a sunny day is breaking, but try seeing the picture of a once again strong powerful warrior emerging from a well needed recuperation, ready to face the next challenge.

l have posted today because l believe that the Nurses do not respond over the weekend, but will do upon their return on Monday and did not want you to go that long without a response without the benefit of asupportive post.

All the very best for a successful future,

    David

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

I am sorry about your diagnosis of breast cancer, and I can understand that you are recovering from surgery and want to get going with the next stage.

It is essential that you and your body fully recover from your first treatment, the surgery, before having anything else. Some treatments, like chemotherapy, can destroy any internal healing that has happened if timed wrong.

The waiting between appointments is difficult, but maybe if you are up to it use this time to prehabilitate and be ready for the next stage.

If you are interested in cancer waiting times, we have information on our website.

Take care, and hopefully things get moving for you soon. If you want to talk things through with nurses on the helpline do call 0808 800 4040, lines open mon-fri,9-5.

    Sarah.
