Endometrial Hyperplasia

Hi,

I am a 33 year old female, I was diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia with abnormal cells in December after an ultrasound showed 28mm thickness and absent periods.
in January I was put on a course of progesterone the highest oral dose and I returned in June to have another ultrasound. They found the thickness to have grown to 40mm after I had a d&c to remove the 28mm lining.
They performed another hysteroscopy and biopsy and have fast tracked my results which I will now wait for.
is there a concern over the fact that it grew quickly with the course of progesterone and the fast track? I’m not sure what to expect or questions to ask on my next follow up and how to keep my anxiety at bay.

thanks,

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m sorry to read about your situation and can appreciate how stressful it is waiting for biopsy results.

Unfortunately, as every patient’s situation is different, the management and treatment for atypical hyperplasia (abnormal cells) in the womb lining can vary between individuals. So I’m afraid no one on here can tell you what this all means for you and what the next steps are. This is a question only your doctor can answer for you dependent on what the biopsy results show.

You can read more abouendometrial hyperplasia on the information written by RCOG (Royal College of Gynaecologists).

I know it's easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. Also try and focus on what you can control right now by eating a good diet, getting enough rest, and doing some gentle activities that you enjoy.

I hope you know more soon.. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
