Breast Cancer/Radiotherapy

Hi

I am due to have surgery for breast cancer, a lumpectomy as well as a full lymph node clearance.  I am looking anyone who could advise me or if they have been through this experience, how long after did they have radiotherapy. Also how long did you have to have radiotherapy for? I realise each person's cases are different but just looking for any rough idea would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

  • Hi Mazza10 and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn of your situation.

Hopefully, other people will start to post who have been through a similar situation, however, you may find it helpful to make another post in the 'living with cancer' section of the forum where more people may see the post.

A lumpectomy and lymph node clearance, along with radiotherapy is commonly done to treat breast cancer.

Depending on your situation you may have between 1-3 weeks of radiotherapy after the surgery.

I hope this is useful, you may also find it helpful to look on the Breast Cancer Now forum for support.

Do get back to us with any other questions or for support. You can speak with one of the nurses on our helpline between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Take care,

    Jemma
